Minutes 2006 SVC Athletic Director’s Meeting

Wednesday November 3, 2004

Held at the Caddyshack in Rantoul

(revised on 11-10-04)

All the Athletic Directors were present.  The following was discussed.

Football:

It was agreed that Friday would be (if numbers allow) a freshman/varsity doubleheader starting at either 5:00 or 5:15.

The sophomore game would be on Monday night at 6 pm at the opposite site of the Friday night game.

Example:  If St. Joseph-Ogden and PBL played in Paxton on Friday night, the sophomore game would be at St. Joseph-Ogden on Monday night.

It was agreed that both the freshman and sophomore game would consist of 10 minute quarters.

The option for the 9th week prelim game could be either a sophomore game (no freshman game)

or

A freshman game before the week 9 varsity game and the sophomore game would be the Monday after the first varsity game—August 28, 2006 and August 27, 2007.

It was agreed that Varsity crews beginning in 2006 would be paid $55 per person for a 5 man crew.

It was agreed that if the same crew did the freshman/varsity game the pay rate would be $95 per person—the size of the crew would depend on if crew members could get to the game by 5:00.

It was agreed that the pay rate for the Monday night sophomore game would be $40 per person.

It was agreed that the pay rate would be required by by-law and be reviewed annually by the Athletic Director and any change would be recommended to the Principals.

It was agreed that Admission prices would be determined by the local school and not by the SVC by-laws.

Officials for varsity games will be assigned by John Overstreet as soon as possible.  It will be up to the host school to contract the varsity crew and determine if the varsity crew could do the freshman prelim game.

Officials for the Monday night sophomore game would be hired by the host school—not by John Overstreet.

It was agreed to maintain the current by-law that sophomore games are for players at the freshman and sophomore years and that juniors shall not play unless mutually agreed upon by both schools or the minimum number as stated in the SVC by-laws (15 currently) is not possible.

Each school could change games from the master schedule in any sport to fit local events like homecoming, Christmas tournaments….  Both schools would have to agree to the change and inform John Overstreet of the change.

If conference schools played each other more than one time, the conference game will be the game on the assigned date.

JV and freshman basketball, softball and baseball are scheduled by the local schools, not the SVC.

Other Sports:

Golf:

The current SVC date for the conference tourney is on Thursday of week 13—September 30, 2004—the corresponding date in 2006 would be September 28, 2006 and in 2007 it would be September 27, 2007.

Possible options for golf:

Play just SVC schools only on this date at a site to be determined.

Form an alliance with the RVC or VVC.

Cross Country:

The date for the SIA meet was the Tuesday of week 15, this year it would have been October 12, 2004.  In 2006 it would be:  October 10, 2006 and in 2007 it would be October 9, 2007

Possible options for Cross Country:

Keep just an SVC meet only on this date.

Possible alliance with the RVC or VVC.

Wrestling:

There is no real corresponding date for wrestling.  Any date would have to be worked out among the schools to make sure that current tournaments are not affected.

Track:

The current SVC date is the Tuesday week 45—May 10, 2004 this year.  The corresponding date in 2006-07---May 8, 2007 and in 2007-08---May 6, 2008.

Possible options would be to keep the date as is.

Move the date to a Saturday and run both boys and girls together.

Separate the boys and girls meets, to avoid sectional week

Form an alliance with the RVC and set date accordingly.

Soccer:

This would have to be an alliance with the RVC since Iroquois West is the only school that plays soccer.
