2006-07 Principals’ Minutes
1. The meeting
started at 8:20, all schools were present.
2. A review of the 2005-06 calendar was done
and the next meeting was set for Wednesday November 2nd in Paxton at
9 am---this meeting will take place after the current SVC Principals meet that
day. Future meetings will be set month
to month.
3. The Athletic Director Report
from their meeting on Monday October 3, 2005 was reviewed concerning tentative
dates for the 2006-07 Golf Meet, Cross Country Meet and Track Meet.
4. Dues for the 2006-07 school year were
discussed. It was agree to leave dues
at $200 for full members and to review this at the end of this school year.
5. Principals discussed the continuation of SVC
Scholarships as presented the last several years. The amount will be determined based on the Treasurer’s Report for
that year.
6. Principals agreed that admission prices for
conference games should be set by local boards, but that SVC tournaments will
continue to charge $4 and $3 as has been the practice.
7. Rates for football officials for 2006 and
beyond were recommended to be $55 for varsity and $40 for sophomore and
freshman games.
8. An extensive review of the by-laws was done. The main focus of discussion was the
possible changing of sophomore games to junior varsity games—allowing juniors
to play in what has been traditionally a freshman or sophomore game. It was agreed to leave the sophomore games
as games in which freshman and sophomores can play in and only let juniors play
when there is a numbers problem or when both school mutually agree to play
juniors.
The other main part
of discussion was concerning all conference teams and changing the numbers on
each team. The Principals agreed with
the Athletic Director recommendation as listed in the proposed by-laws.
Any vote on the
proposed by-laws will come at a later meeting of the Principals after they
discuss them with their BOE and coaching staff.
