Minutes

September 20, 2006

The SVC Athletic Director met at the Caddyshack in Rantoul on Wednesday September 20, 2006.

1. The 2006 Golf meet was discussed. The meet is at Shewami---information is online. It was discussed to rotate the meet to the southern end of the Conference to Stone Creek in Urbana with St. Thomas More being the host in 2007.

2. The 2006 Cross Country Meet was discussed. The meet will be held on Tuesday October 18, 2006 at Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School. Mr. Duval of St. Joseph-Ogden will check the availability of Kickapoo for the 2007 meet.

3. The 2006 Volleyball tournament was discussed. Dates, sites and seeding were discussed. Complete information is online at the volleyball start page. The tournament will be held at Paxton or Gilman.

4. The boy’s and girl’s basketball tournament will be finalized at the December meeting. It was agreed that the seeding would be done by coaches online prior to the tournaments. The tournaments will be held at Paxton or Gilman.

5. The 2007 track meet will be held at St. Joseph-Ogden, tentatively at noon on Tuesday May 8, 2007.

6. The possibility of adding St. Anne and Donovan to the SVC Track meet was discussed. It was decided not to recommend adding any schools.

7. A discussion was held on if and how Athletic Directors were paid for being Tournament Managers. The majority of Athletic Directors are paid extra for being managers. Only one school had a set rate of how much they pay, the others it depended on the tournament.

8. A discussion was held concerning the prelim football games and the starting times, the ending times, buses, getting officials… Schools have the option of moving the game off Friday night if agreed upon. The season will be reviewed at the December meeting.

9. A brief discussion on the move to more classes was held. Based on the recent IHSA Board decision not to hold a vote, it appears that the change will happen next year. There is still a chance that during the Legislative Commission process in November and December that something could change.

10. Possible IHSA steroid policies were discussed.

11. Fall and Winter 2006-07 schedules were reviewed. These have been updated online.
