Sectional Meet Information: (updated after seed meeting)

 

Date:  Friday May 21, 2010  (Rain Date, if needed—Saturday May 22nd at 11 am.)

 

Location:  PBL High School, Paxton (directions to PBL HS)

 

Please be familiar with all IHSA Terms and Conditions concerning the sectional meet.

 

1. Time Schedule: 

 

Weigh in of implements and vaulters:  

3:00 to 3:45

All shots and discus will be marked.  Illegal ones will be “impounded” and returned after the conclusion of the event.

Coaches Meeting/Scratch meeting:

3:30 pm

After this meeting heats may be reseeded if possible.  After this time, races may only be reseeded by the Games Committee and Meet Referee.

Field events begin:

4:00 pm

Starting Hgts:  Pole Vault—7’3”  High Jump—4’11”

Athletes are to report in to their field event and tell the judge what other events they are in.  They should report out before they leave also.  All field events will run in order of the flights—NOT CAFETERIA!  All flights of the field events will be adjusted before the meet to avoid as many conflicts as possible. 

 

Triple Jump—best flight last, finals first

Long Jump—best flight first-finals after the triple is done

Discus—best flight last—finals first

Shot—best flight first, finals after the discus is done.

Prelims begin:

5:00 pm

100 semis, 110 semis, 200 semis

Finals begin:

20 minutes after the last 200 semi final heat

 

 

2.  Admission--$5.00 (set by IHSA) 

 

3.  Pass lists/Word format—please send to John Overstreet by Wednesday May 20th—or bring to the Seed Meeting.

 

4.  Scoring:  10-8-6-4-2-1 

 

5.  Please only ¼ or less spikes on the track and runways.  All runways and throwing areas are inside the complex.  Long jump and high jump on the east end, pole vault and triple jump on the west end.  Shot and discus rings are behind the south bleachers.

 

6.  NO TAPE on any surface.  Please use tennis balls, chalk and bean bags.  PBL will provide these.

 

7.  Starting blocks.  PBL will provide starting blocks, but you may use your own.

 

8.  Camps:  NO CAMPS INSIDE THE TRACK FENCE.  No camps in the north bleachers.  No camps behind the south bleachers near the shot and discus areas.  You many make camps on the practice fields to the east of the field.

 

9.  Restrooms on field.  There will not be any locker rooms.

 

10.  Staging tent.  All races will stage on the east end, in the tent.  This is also where jumpers should enter and exit the track area.  Please do not jump any fences!  No Relay cards:  The names entered online will be used when checking in runners in the tent.

 

11.  PBL plans to use FAT timing for all races.  If the FAT fails during a race with more than one heat/section, then hand-held times will be used for all heats/sections.  A decision by the Games Committee will be made if it is to the advantage of the athletes to “turn” the 100, 110 and 200 due to windy conditions.  FAT can be used for the 100 and 110, but not the 200 if turned. 

 

12.  Bus Parking:  Please park in the north end of the lots and pull into parking spaces not across.

 

13.  Press Box.  We ask that coaches refrain from coming to the press box during the meet.

 

14.  Awards will be available at the conclusion of the meet.

 

15.  Results.  Results will be reported to the IHSA, but also complete results for all throws/times will be online at the sectional meet page shortly after the meet.  PBL will also fax the News-Gazette, Pantagraph, Danville Commercial News and Kankakee Daily Journal.  If you have any other media you would like contacted, please provide the fax number.
