1.  Physicals/Waivers—must have them!!!

 

2.  Goals—Individual—set them, may be just to improve time, place at sectional…

 

3.  Fun/work---get out of this what you put into it.

 

4.  Athletic Code/School rules—follow them!  Language, behavior at practice, etc. 

 

5.  Grades—must be passing 5 classes—3x week ineligible off the team.

 

6.  Practice:  Must be at—if not let me know, too many you will be done.

 

Plan on practice everyday---we will try not to cancel.  If we do, we may just lift and do a light workout somewhere if possible, but there is a chance that it may be called of.  If it is, especially due to weather—you can not stay!  I do not want you out in storms, etc—even if you are on your “own” you are still the school’s responsibility.

 

There may be some days where practice is canceled ahead of time or I may not be able to be here due to meetings.  I will let you know ahead of time if this is the case.  Some days I may get someone out here to cover for me until I get back or it just may be canceled.  This is why it is important to be at practice to hear announcements about this and other things.


 

Understand that some will have work, FFA, etc.  Let me know!!!  Do not just not show up!  Excused or unexcused is up to me, but I will follow the normal concept—sick, death, injured, doctor, other school activity, work if prearranged or other reasons. 

 

Unexcused—you don’t tell me, unexcused from school, doing school work—explain this one—at home—big project, etc, 

 

Too many unexcused you will be dismissed.

 

7.  Workouts assigned by me, must do them, if you can do more, that is good, but must do that on your own.

3:153:45---you can start warming up before I am out here. 

 

Warm up on your own, stretch, run, speed drills.  Why on your own?

 

Announcements, must be here for them, do not want to come out and someone tell me that so and so already started…

 

3:45  Workouts—designed for everyone, can not make everyone run the same # of miles a day, if you can more, great, but will have to do the extra on your own.  These workouts will be 30-40 minutes long.


 

Monday---distance—Tempo, long runs…usually 3-5+ miles

 

Tuesday---Speed---400’s, intervals, hills or meets

 

Wednesday---Fartleks---easy run (usually after a meet or before)

 

Thursday---Longer speed work (800-1200-1600)

 

Friday----3 miles

 

Weekends—Saturday meets or on your own.

 

Need to get 1-2 days rest each week!!!!!

Most days you will be done with the workout by 4:30, do a cool down of at least 10 minutes light jogging.  You do not have to come back and check in.  So plan on most days being done by 4:30-4:45.

 

Understand that I will on the course working most days or I may get called away for AD stuff or even have to leave to go to games, meetings…

 

8.  Meets:  Schedule in packet, online, outside my office—no excuse to say “I didn’t know  Everyone goes to meets and runs unless hurt or excused by me.  If you are unexcused from 3 meets you will be dismissed from the team.  This includes not just going and/or going to the meet and deciding that you don’t want to run.  If you are hurt/sick—let me know before you get on the bus.

 

Bus times on the schedule, get out of class 10 minutes before, no announcement, must ride to and back unless parent calls ahead to office or see me at meet.  Most meets we will stop somewhere to eat or get drinks—plan on bringing money for this.

 

At meets, warm-up on your own/team and be ready, lots of times I will have to help in some way.
