Course Markings

Mile Marks

Finish Procedures

Updated 10-12-05

Flags:

Red/Orange Flags mean a Right Turn

Yellow Flags mean a Left Turn

This is the opposite of the Rule Book—I had more red material for the right turns.

Mile Marks:

The 1 mile mark is painted on the ground by the just inside the fence by the second tree.

The 2 mile mark is on the south end of the practice field and is painted on the ground.

Finish:

We will be using the wide part of the chute, 25 feet from the narrow part.  Only official personal will be allowed in this area and along the chute.  We will be using 2 cameras—one ground level to record “gill” numbers and another on a ladder to record finishes as the runners cross.  If either or both cameras fail—no other camera will be used!!!

The hardest part of the wide mouth finish is making sure that the runners enter the chute in the correct order—tell your runners to be ready to switch if told to base on the officials decision.

I may use a double chute if time allows me to set it up and I have the people to work it.

Chute:  The runners should keep moving thru the chute and not stop to talk to coaches, parents… until they leave.  Runners will get a place card (1-160),  this card is a back up and should be given to you after the race.

Runner’s numbers will be recorded on paper as they pass the mid way point of the chute—another check, just in case.

If a runner loses his/her pink or blue card in the race (each team was given enough safety pins to pin this card in two places in case of rain or strong wind) a replacement card will be given to the runner before they reach the tent based on the “gill” number—pin this in the four corners.

The best place to pin the pink/blue card is behind the “gill” number, this helps prevent it from falling off better.

After the tent—there will be bottled water.

Awards will be in the gym-after the starter certifies the results.

Complete results will be online after the meet at the sectional web page.
