Course Markings
Mile Marks
Finish Procedures
Flags:
Red/Orange Flags mark the turns.
Mile Marks:
The 1 mile mark is painted on the ground by the tall oak tree on the hill.
The 2 mile mark is painted on the ground by the turn in the back road by the interstate.
Finish:
We will be using the wide part of the chute, 25 feet from the narrow part. Only official personal will be allowed in this area and along the chute. We will be using 2 cameras—one ground level to record “gill” numbers and another on a ladder to record finishes as the runners cross. If either or both cameras fail—no other camera will be used!!!
The hardest part of the wide mouth finish is making sure that the runners enter the chute in the correct order—tell your runners to be ready to switch if told to base on the officials decision.
Chute: The runners should keep moving thru the chute and not stop to talk to coaches, parents… until they leave. Runners will get a place card (1-160—pink girls, blue boys), this card is a back up and should be given to you after the race.
Runner’s numbers will be recorded on paper as they pass the mid way point of the chute—another check, just in case.
After the tent—there will be bottled water.
Awards will be in the gym-after the starter certifies the results.
Complete results will be online after the meet at the sectional web page.
