ARTICLE I

Section 1. The name of this association shall be the SANGAMON VALLEY CONFERENCE.

 

ARTICLE II

OBJECT

Section 1. The object of this conference is to encourage the development of interschool activities among member schools that will have maximum educational values to those who participate. It shall also be the purpose of this Conference to foster cordial relations between student bodies, faculty members, and patrons of the various schools.

Section 2. As of July 1, 2006, this conference shall recognize and lend its name to activities in which a majority of its member schools participate, upon approval of the conference membership. Trophies shall be provided by the conference.

 

ARTICLE III

MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. The following schools were charter members of the conference: Bellflower, Deland, Farmer City, LeRoy, Mahomet, Mansfield, and Weldon.

Section 2. The membership of this conference as of March 1949, included: Deland-Weldon, Farmer City, Fisher, Mahomet, Mansfield, Wapella, and LeRoy.

Section 3. The membership of this conference as of January 1, 1955, included: Deland-Weldon, Farmer City, Fisher, Heyworth, LeRoy, Mahomet-Seymour, Mansfield, Octavia, and Saybrook-Arrowsmith.

Section 4. The membership of this conference as of September 1 included: Argenta-Oreana, Deland-Weldon, Fairbury-Cropsey, Farmer City- Mansfield, Fisher, Heyworth, LeRoy, Mahomet-Seymour, Octavia, and Saybrook-Arrowsmith.

Section 5. The membership of this conference as of August 1, 1976, included: Argenta-Oreana, Deland-Weldon, Fairbury-Cropsey, Farmer City-Mansfield, Fisher, Heyworth, LeRoy, and Octavia. All alphabetical rotations will follow this order.

Section 6. As of August 1, 1983, the membership of this conference included: Fairbury-Cropsey, Farmer City-Mansfield, Fisher, Ford Central (football only), Forrest-Strawn-Wing, Heyworth, LeRoy, Octavia, and Tri-Valley.

Section 7. As of August 1, 1985, the membership of this conference included: Blue Ridge, Fisher, Ford Central (football only), Heyworth, LeRoy, Octavia, and Tri-Valley high schools. All alphabetical rotations will follow this order.

Section 8. As of June 1, 1989, the membership of this conference included: Blue Ridge, Fisher, Ford Central, Heyworth, LeRoy, Ridgeview, and Tri-Valley high schools. All alphabetical rotations will follow this order.

Section 9. As of June 1, 1990, the membership of this conference included: Blue Ridge, Fisher, Ford Central, Gibson City, Heyworth, LeRoy, Paxton, Ridgeview, and Tri-Valley high schools.

Section 10. As of June 1, 1991, the membership of this conference included: Blue Ridge, Fisher, Ford Central, Gibson City, Heyworth, LeRoy, Paxton-Buckley-Loda, Ridgeview, and Tri-Valley high schools.

Section 11. As of June 1, 1992, the membership of this conference included: Blue Ridge, Fisher, Gibson City, Heyworth, LeRoy, Paxton- Buckley-Loda, Ridgeview, and Tri-Valley high schools.

Section 12. As of June 1, 1993, the membership of this conference included: Blue Ridge, Fisher, Gibson City-Melvin Sibley, Heyworth, Iroquois West, LeRoy, Paxton-Buckley-Loda, Ridgeview, and Tri-Valley High Schools.

Section 13. As of June 1, 1997, full member schools of this conference included: Blue Ridge, Fisher, Gibson City-Melvin Sibley, Hoopeston, Iroquois West, LeRoy, Milford, Paxton-Buckley Loda, Rossville-Alvin, Tri-Valley, Urbana Uni-High, Watseka. Partial member schools included: Clifton Central (football only) and Momence (football only).

Section 14. As of June 1, 1999, full member schools of this conference included: Armstrong-Potomac, Blue Ridge, CPCI, Fisher, Gibson City-Melvin Sibley, Hoopeston, Iroquois West, LeRoy, Milford, Paxton-Buckley Loda, Rossville-Alvin, Tri-Valley, Urbana Uni-High, Watseka. Partial member schools included: Clifton Central (football only) and Momence (football only).

Section 15.  As of June 1, 2003, full member schools of this conference included: Armstrong-Potomac, Blue Ridge, CPCI, Fisher, Gibson City-Melvin Sibley, Hoopeston, Iroquois West, LeRoy, Milford, Paxton-Buckley Loda, Rossville-Alvin, Tri-Valley, Watseka. Partial member schools included: Clifton Central (football only) and Momence (football only).

Section 16:  As of June 1, 2004, full member schools of this conference included: Blue Ridge, Clifton Central, CPCI, Fisher, Gibson City-Melvin Sibley, Iroquois West, LeRoy, Milford, Paxton-Buckley Loda, St. Thomas More, Tri-Valley, Watseka.  Partial member schools included: Momence (football only).

Section 17:  As of June 1, 2004, full member schools of this conference included:  Clifton Central, CPCI, Iroquois West, Momence, Paxton-Buckley-Loda, St. Joseph-Ogden, St. Thomas More, Tri Point, Watseka.  

 Section 18. Other schools may be added to the conference upon petition by those schools and a favorable vote by not less than (2/3) of the member schools of the Legislative Body present for the vote.

 Section 19. A school may be dropped from the conference by a vote of (2/3) of the member schools of the Legislative Body present for the vote, at a time convenient to the conference, taking into consideration existing contracts.

 

ARTICLE IV

DUES AND ASSESSMENTS

Section 1. Dues of $200 per full member and $100 per partial member shall be assessed by the conference annually and payable by October 1st. A full member school is defined as: a school which participates in one-half or more of those conference activities in which a championship is awarded. A partial member school participates in less than one-half of conference championship activities.

Section 2. The Legislative Body shall have power to levy special assessments upon the member schools of the conference for the purpose of discharging the obligations of the conference.

 

 


 

ARTICLE V

PARTICIPATION

Section 1. If a full member school sponsors an activity or sport in which there is a conference championship trophy, that member must compete in the conference-sponsored activity. Partial member schools participate in designated activities for which they have been approved.

Section 2. Sponsored activities determined by the Legislative Body must have a majority of member conference schools participating.

Section 3. As of the July 1, 2006, SVC championship activities included: football, boy’s basketball, baseball, boy’s track, softball, volleyball, girl’s basketball, girl’s track, scholastic bowl, golf and cross country.

 

ARTICLE VI

AMENDMENTS

Section 1. This constitution may be amended at any scheduled meeting by a favorable vote of not less than 2/3 of the member schools of the Legislative Body present for the vote, provided that the proposed changes have been submitted in writing at least ten days preceding the meeting.

Section 2. The By-Laws may be amended at any meeting of the Legislative Body by a majority vote of the member schools present for the vote.

Section 3. Co-Operative Sports: The Sangamon Valley Conference supports the concept of Co-Operative Team Sports. All decisions on new Co-Operative team sports must receive a majority vote of the Legislative Body present for the vote. A vote will be taken on each individual school and sport.  The continuation of a Co-Operative Team shall be reviewed every 2 (two) years or as per the IHSA By-Laws.


ARTICLE VII

OFFICERS

Section 1. The officers of this conference shall be president, vice president, and treasurer.

Section 2. Officers shall be elected by ballot except when there is but one Candidate, in which case, he/she may be elected by acclimation. When elected by ballot, the officer must receive a majority of all votes cast by members present for the vote. Officers are elected at the April or May meeting each year.

Section 3. Principals new to the conference will not assume the office of president.

Section 4. An executive secretary shall be employed by the conference.

 

ARTICLE VIII

THE LEGISLATIVE BODY

Section 1. The Legislative Body shall consist of the Principals (or their designee) of the conference schools.

Section 2. A majority of the member schools shall constitute a quorum.

Section 3. Conference business may be conducted at any duly called meeting of the Legislative Body.

Section 4. Partial member schools are not members of the Legislative Body.

Section 5. Partial member schools may vote only on issues which pertain to the specific activities for which they have been approved for participation.


 

ARTICLE IX

MEETINGS

Section 1. There shall be a fall meeting on the second Wednesday of September. The purpose of this meeting shall be social and informational.

Section 2. The Legislative Body will determine meeting dates and sites.

Section 3. Special meetings may be held at any time at the call of the President and must be called upon written request of three member schools.

Section 4. All meetings shall be conducted according to Robert's Rules of Order.

 

 

 


 

 

BY-LAWS

ART I

ELIGIBILITY

Section 1. The rules of the Illinois High School Association shall govern the eligibility of all students participating in sponsored conference activities.

ART II

FOOTBALL

 

Section 1.  There will be one (1) football division.

The divisional champions will be determined by a percentage won-lost record of games within the division.  Non Conference games do not count in determining the Champions.

Section 2:  All overtime games will be governed by current IHSA regulations.

Section 3:  All conference schools shall follow the football scheduled adopted by the conference.

Section 4:  Conference schools may play other conference schools more that once during the season, with only the scheduled conference game counting in the standings.

Section 5:  Conference teams shall play a freshman game on prior to the varsity game on Friday night at the same site.  The junior varsity game shall be the Monday night following the varsity game at the opposite site as of the varsity game.  Any school can alter freshman and junior varsity games with the mutual consent of both schools.  Any changes made shall be reported to the Executive Secretary.

The junior varsity game for week 9 can be played at a date mutually agreed upon by both schools.

Section 6:  No Conference won lost records shall be kept for Freshman or Junior varsity games.

Section 7:

Juniors may play in junior varsity games under the following circumstances.  If the following criteria are not met, the junior varsity game must then consist of freshmen and sophomore (no more than four semesters of high school) student-athletes only.

 

A.        Mutual agreement by both coaches no later than noon of the day of the contest or noon the day prior to the contest if the contest is on a non school attendance day. 

 

B.         The juniors playing should be “non-impact” players.  An exception can be made concerning a player that is an “impact” player at a position other than quarterback during varsity games, but the head coach feels the need for that player to get experience at quarterback during a junior varsity game to prepare for the next season.  This player would only be allowed to play the quarterback position in the junior varsity game.  This also must be mutually agreed upon by coaches.

Section 8:  Each quarter of junior varsity games shall be 10 minutes.

Section 9:  Players in Freshman games will be freshman only, unless mutually agreed upon by both schools under the following conditions: one school cannot dress a minimum of freshman players: 15, and no student shall compete who is beyond their fourth semester in high school, or who has passed their seventeenth birthday before August 15th. 

Section 10:  Each quarter of Freshman games shall be 10 minutes.

Section 11:  Each school shall provide their next’s week conference opponent with the previous two (2) weeks game film.  This exchange will be arranged between the opposing schools.

Section 12:  Each visiting school shall be provided with two (2) spaces inside the press box at each conference game, these two spaces shall be allotted prior to spaces given to the media.

Section 13:  The following criteria shall be used to determine the Conference representative in the IHSA State Series:

A.  Conference champion will be the representative.

B. In the case of Co-Champs, the team that won the head to head game will be the representative.

C. Three way tie:

i. Best team record of the three teams involved amongst themselves.

ii. If this does not resolve the tie, then the team with the most points based on the IHSA point system will be the representative

iii. If (ii) narrows the tie to two schools, then (b) above applies.

iv. If the tie can not be resolved, a school will be drawn from a hat.

D. Four way tie:

i. The best record of the four teams involved amongst themselves.

ii. If this reduces the number to two teams, then (b) above applies.

iii If team records narrows it to three teams, then the procedure for a Three way tie applies (c).

iv. If team records do not eliminate any team, then the team with the most points based on the IHSA point system will be the representative.

v. If the IHSA point system narrows it down to three teams, then the procedure for a Three way tie (c) will apply. If the IHSA point system narrows it down to two teams, then (b) above applies.

vi. If the tie can not be resolved, a school will be drawn from a hat.

Section 14:  Selection All Conference Football Teams.

A. Each head coach shall submit nominations for their team for all-conference consideration. Coaches may submit statistical and descriptive information, and this information will be considered at a meeting of the coaches to be held on a date determined by the Legislative body. Each head coach may compile individual statistics for each of the players nominated. This information should be for Conference Varsity games only. A list of each coach's nominations shall be delivered to the Executive Secretary at least 2 days prior to the scheduled meeting. A coach may make changes at the meeting. The nominations will be discussed and voted on by ballot at the meeting.  All ballots will be returned to the Executive Secretary and shall be available for review by the coaches at the meeting.

B.  Any player may be nominated and elected to the offensive and defensive teams and kicking specialists, but only if his coach submits his name and information on both team list as provided in A. of this section.

Section 14:  Selection All Conference Football Teams.

C.  The offensive team shall consist of the following:

i.  1 quarterback

ii.  3 running backs

iii.  5 offensive lineman

iv.  2 receivers

v.  1 Tight End

vi. 2 “Flex” Positions---A majority of coaches at the meeting shall determine the actual positions—the “flex” positions will be either a running back or receiver.

D.  The defensive team shall consist of the following:

i.  2 Defensive Ends

ii.  2 defensive tackles

iii.  5 Linebackers

iv.  4 defensive backs

E.  Two kicking specialists:

i.  1 punter

ii.  1 kicker

F.  There shall be one offensive team and one defensive team.

G.  Coaches shall not vote for their own players.

H.  The final vote shall be read out loud to after voting is tallied.

I.  The next four (4) highest vote “getters” regardless of position, excluding kicker and punter, shall be placed on the first team.

J.  Any player receiving at least twenty (20) votes, but not making the first team shall be named to the Special Mention list.

K.  Each coach may nominate one player from his team to the Honorable Mention list.  They shall not be on any other team.

L.  If a tie occurs for the one remaining position on the All-Conference team, all players tied shall make that team.


 

 

ART III

VOLLEYBALL

Section 1. There will be one champion, with the champion being determined by a won-lost percentage of all SVC conference games. If a tie exists within a division, co-champions will be recognized.

Section 2.  To be a championship contender a school must have played all games on the SVC master schedule, unless the make-up game(s) has no bearing on determining the championship.

 

If a game can not be played due to scheduling conflicts and all reasonable attempts have been made to reschedule the game(s), the tie breaker will be head to head amongst the teams tied.  If this does not resolve the tie, then co-champions will be declared.

Section 3. The volleyball schedule shall be established two years in advance by the Executive Secretary. Dates will be determined by the Athletic Directors.  Any changes in the SVC Master Schedule must be by mutual consent of both schools and any changes reported to the Executive Secretary.

Section 4. Juniors may play in junior varsity games under the following circumstances.  If the following criteria are not met, the junior varsity game must then consist of freshmen and sophomore (no more than four semesters of high school) student-athletes only.

 

A.  Mutual agreement by both coaches no later than noon of the day of the contest or noon the day prior to the contest if the contest is on a non school attendance day. 

 

B.  The juniors playing in the junior varsity game cannot be starters in the varsity contest. 

Section 5:  Players and format for freshman games between Conference schools shall be determined by mutual consent of both schools.

Section 6. All Varsity and junior varsity games shall be scored according to IHSA Regulations.

Section 7. The SVC will abide by IHSA regulations in regard to the number of games per match.

Section 8. Pre-game warm-ups shall be as per IHSA regulations provide.

Section 9. Each home team shall provide volleyballs for use by the visiting teams at all conference volleyball games.

Section 10. The SVC will select one All-Conference Volleyball Team.

A. Each head coach shall submit nominations for their team for all-conference consideration. Coaches may submit statistical and descriptive information, and this information will be considered at a meeting of the coaches to be held on a date determined by the Legislative body. Each head coach may compile individual statistics for each of the players nominated. This information should be for Conference Varsity games only. A list of each coach's nominations shall be delivered to the Executive Secretary at least 2 days prior to the scheduled meeting. A coach may make changes at the meeting. The nominations will be discussed and voted on by secret ballot at the meeting.  All ballots will be returned to the Executive Secretary and shall be available for review by the coaches at the meeting.

B. The coaches shall vote for twelve (12) for the first team.

C. The twelve (12) girls receiving the highest number of points will make up the first team. All ties for the twelve (12) highest scores will be placed on the first team.

D. Special/Honorable Mention.  Any of the remaining girls who receive two (2) or more votes will receive Special Mention.

After all voting is complete, each coach may name one (1) additional player from his/her team to Honorable Mention.

E. Coaches shall not vote for players from their own team.

F. The executive secretary shall not make public release of the All-Conference Team until all conference schools have been eliminated from the State Tournament Series.

Section 11:

The SVC will not allow a “non competing” school to film any regular season or conference tournament game.

 


ART IV

BOYS/GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Section 1. The Conference shall sponsor a varsity boys' and girls' Cross Country Meet with the date, site, and time to be established by the Legislative Body.

Section 2. A scratch meeting shall be held prior to the scheduled meet(s), if needed.

Section 3. The rules of the IHSA shall govern participation of athletes and conduct of the meet.

Section 4. Scoring for the meet will be as per the National Federation Rule Book.

Section 5. The championship will be awarded to the school scoring the fewest points. Individual awards will be given like an IHSA Sectional Meet.

Section 6. The conference will keep only those records set in the Conference meets.

ART V

BOYS/GIRLS GOLF

Section 1. The Conference shall sponsor a varsity boys and girls' Golf meet with the date, site, and time to be established by the Legislative Body.

Section 2. A scratch meeting shall be held prior to the scheduled meet(s), if needed.

Section 3. The rules of the IHSA shall govern participation of athletes and conduct of the meet.

Section 4. Scoring for the meet will be as per the National Federation Rule Book.

Section 5. The championship will be awarded to the school scoring the lowest team scored. Individual awards will be given to the top ten medalists in both the boys and girl’s meet.

Section 6. The conference will keep only those records set in the Conference meets.

 


ART VI

BOYS'/GIRLS' BASKETBALL

Section 1. There will be one (1) conference champion, with the champion being determined by a won-lost percentage of all SVC conference games. If a tie exists, co-champions will be recognized.

Section 2.  To be a championship contender a school must have played all games on the SVC master schedule, unless the make-up game(s) has no bearing on determining the championship.

 

If a game can not be played due to scheduling conflicts and all reasonable attempts have been made to reschedule the game(s), the tie breaker will be head to head amongst the teams tied.  If this does not resolve the tie, then co-champions will be declared.

Section 3. The basketball schedule shall be established two years in advance by the Executive Secretary. Dates will be determined by the Athletic Directors.  Any changes in the SVC Master Schedule must be by mutual consent of both schools and any changes reported to the Executive Secretary.

Section 4. Each home team shall provide six (6) basketballs for use by the visiting team at all conference girls and boys basketball games.

Section 5. Juniors may play in junior varsity games under the following circumstances.  If the following criteria are not met, the junior varsity game must then consist of freshmen and sophomore (no more than four semesters of high school) student-athletes only.

 

A.  Mutual agreement by both coaches no later than noon of the day of the contest or noon the day prior to the contest if the contest is on a non school attendance day. 

 

B.  The juniors playing in the junior varsity game cannot be starters in the varsity contest. 

Section 6. Each quarter of junior varsity games shall be seven minutes.

Section 7. Selection of All-Conference Basketball Team.

A. Each head coach shall submit nominations for their team for all-conference consideration. Coaches may submit statistical and descriptive information, and this information will be considered at a meeting of the coaches to be held on a date determined by the Legislative body. Each head coach may compile individual statistics for each player nominated. This information should be for Conference Varsity games only. A list of each coach's nominations shall be delivered to the Executive Secretary at least 2 days prior to the scheduled meeting. A coach may make changes at the meeting. The nominations will be discussed and voted on by secret ballot at the meeting. All ballots will be returned to the Executive Secretary and shall be available for review by the coaches at the meeting.

B. The coaches shall vote for ten (10) for the first team.

C.   The ten (10) boys/girls receiving the highest number of points will make up the first team. All ties for the ten (10) highest scores will be placed on the first team

D. Special/Honorable Mention. Any of the remaining nominees who receive two (2) or more votes will receive Special Mention. 

After all voting is complete, each coach may name one (1) additional player from his/her team to Honorable Mention.

E. Coaches shall not vote for players from their own team.

F. The executive secretary shall not make public release of the All-Conference Team until all conference schools have been eliminated from the State Tournament Series.

Section 8:

The SVC will not allow a “non competing” school to film any regular season or conference tournament game.

 

ART VII

TRACK & FIELD

Section 1. The Conference shall sponsor a varsity boys' track meet and a varsity girls' track meet with the date, site, and time to be established by the Legislative Body.

Section 2. A scratch meeting shall be held prior to the scheduled meet(s), if needed.

Section 3. The rules of the IHSA shall govern participation of athletes and conduct of the meet.

Section 4. Scoring for the meet will be as per the National Federation Rule Book.

Section 5. The championship will be awarded to the school scoring the most points. Medals shall be given to first place in all events and ribbons shall be given to places 2-6.

Section 6. The conference will keep only those records set in the Conference meets.


ART VIII

BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

Section 1. All conference schools participating in baseball/softball shall follow the IHSA Terms and Conditions for spring baseball/softball.

A. Any game suspended with the score tied, shall be finished from the last full inning completed.

Section 2. Conference Champion:

A. There will be one (1) champion for softball and baseball, with the champions being determined by a won-lost percentage of all SVC conference games.  If a tie exists co-champions will be recognized.

 

B.  To be a championship contender a school must have played all games on the SVC master schedule, unless the make-up game(s) has no bearing on determining the championship.

 

If a game can not be played due to scheduling conflicts and all reasonable attempts have been made to reschedule the game(s), the tie breaker will be head to head amongst the teams tied.  If this does not resolve the tie, then co-champions will be declared.

Section 3. The baseball/softball schedule shall be established two years in advance by the Executive Secretary. Dates will be determined by the Athletic Directors.  Any changes in the SVC Master Schedule must be by mutual consent of both schools and any changes reported to the Executive Secretary.

Section 4. Selection for All-Conference teams for baseball and softball.

A. Softball and baseball coaches may nominate up to up to fifteen (15) players.

B. Each head coach shall submit nominations for their team for all-conference consideration. Coaches may submit statistical and descriptive information, and this information will be considered at a meeting of the coaches to be held on a date determined by the Legislative body. Each head coach may compile individual statistics for each player nominated. This information should be for Conference Varsity games only. A list of each coach's nominations shall be delivered to the Executive Secretary at least 2 days prior to the scheduled meeting. A coach may make changes at the meeting. The nominations will be discussed and voted on by secret ballot at the meeting.  All ballots will be returned to the Executive Secretary and shall be available for review by the coaches at the meeting.

C. Softball and baseball coaches shall vote for up to fifteen (15). The top fifteen (15) softball and baseball players will make the first team.

D. Special/Honorable Mention. Any of the remaining nominees who receive two (2) or more votes will receive Special Mention. 

After all voting is complete, each coach may name one (1) additional player from his/her team to Honorable Mention.

E. A coach may not vote for his/her own players.

F. The executive secretary shall not make public release of the All-Conference Team until all conference schools have been eliminated from the State Tournament Series.

ART IX

HONOR BAND/CHORUS

Section 1:  The conference will provide a stipend of up to $500 to compensate the director and up to $125 to compensate an accompanist of the Honor Chorus for their time spent working with the SVC students.

Section 2:  The conference will provide a stipend of up to $500 to compensate the director of the Honor Band for their time spent working with the SVC students.

Section 3:  There shall be no admission charged by the host school or the SVC for the Honor Band or Honor Chorus.

ART X

SCHOLASTIC BOWL

Section 1: The conference will schedule a Scholastic Bowl season for participating schools, with one overall SVC champion being determined on the basis of their won-lost record for SVC matches.

If a game can not be played due to scheduling conflicts and all reasonable attempts have been made to reschedule the game(s), the tie breaker will be head to head amongst the teams tied.  If this does not resolve the tie, then co-champions will be declared.

Section 2: Individual awards will be given two (2) participants from each school, divided into a first team and second team.


ART XI

ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS

The SVC supports endeavors to further enhance the value of academic work by the students of the member schools. In an effort to provide additional recognition for their academic achievements, the SVC will honor the student-athletes, managers, and cheerleaders who participate in any athletic activities. The following criteria will be used to recognize students as "All-Academic Team" members:

1. This award is limited to seniors only.

2. Each sport will be recognized with an All-Academic Team if there are eligible students available.

3. The senior must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.00 scale after their 7th semester of school.

4. All students from a school who meet the required GPA will make the team for the sport in which they participated.

5. There will be just one team, with no second team or Special Mention.

6. Certificates will be given as the award.

7. Each school will provide a list of eligible seniors to the Executive Secretary by the May meeting for all sports/activities for the current school year.

ART XII

CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS

Section 1:  Championship plaques will be presented in each SVC competitive activity. Where divisional play exists, a plaque will be given each divisional champion or co-champion.

Section 2:  Awards will be presented for the following places in the Volleyball, Boy’s Basketball and Girl’s Basketball Tournament:  First Place, Second Place, Third Place and consolation champion.

 


ART XIII

STARTING TIMES AND DURATION OF GAMES

Section 1: It shall be the philosophy of the Principals of the Sangamon Valley Conference that keeping student-athletes in school during the school day will be a top priority.  Each member school will recognize this and will cooperate with each other in the scheduling of games/contests.

Section 2. All sophomore contests played as preliminary to varsity basketball games shall begin at 6:00 p.m.

Section 3. All Varsity football games shall begin at 7:00 p.m, if a Freshman game is played prior to the varsity game it shall start at 5:00 p.m.

Section 4. All Sophomore football games shall start at 6:00 p.m.

Section 5. All Baseball/Softball games shall start at 4:30, however no team shall be required to play unless a minimum warm-up of fifteen (15) minutes is given to the visiting school.

Section 6. All starting times may be changed by mutual consent of both schools.

ART XIV

ITEMIZED LIST OF EXECUTIVE SECRETARY DUTIES FOR SVC

1. Secure Conference Directory material from member school principals.

2. Send a year's supply of SVC Courtesy Cards to each member school.

3. Responsible for developing new and revising existing schedules, typing, duplicating, and distributing them to member schools.

4. There are master schedules for volleyball, football, boys' and girls' basketball, baseball, and softball. All master schedules are made two (2) years in advance.

5. Provide the IHSA with conference football scores on forms provided by the IHSA.

6. Prepare agendas for the Principals' and Athletic Directors' meetings.

7. Notify Conference schools of All Conference meetings. Attend the selection meetings. Distribute ballots, count and compile the results. The All-Conference teams are then duplicated and sent out to the major area papers and the coaches. The papers receiving the All-Conference lists are The Pantagraph, the News Gazette, the Kankakee Journal, and the Danville Commercial News.

8. For the conference track meet, make arrangements for the site, the starter, timers, and event managers.

ART XV

ITEMIZED LIST OF TREASURER DUTIES FOR THE SVC

1. Prepare treasurer's reports for the Principals' meetings.

2. Collect membership dues from each school and deposit them.

3.  Pay any obligations of the Sangamon Valley Conference

 

 ARTICLE XVI

SCHOLARSHIPS

The SVC Principals shall give scholarships to students of SVC schools as determined by the legislative body.
