January 9, 2002

1.  The meeting started at 8:25, all schools were present except: Clifton Central, Blue Ridge and Hoopeston Area.

2.  Mr. Maurer of CPCI made a motion to accept the minutes of the December 5, 2001 meeting.  Mr. Gibson of Milford seconded.  The motion carried.

3.  The Treasurer's Report was presented.  As of January 9, 2002 the Sangamon Valley Conference has a balance of $8659.70.  This doesn’t reflect the payment of $369.50 to Triple Q Questions for Scholastic Bowl.  Mr. Gibson of Milford made a motion, seconded by Mr. Hawkins of Iroquois West to accept the Treasurer's Report.  The motion carried.

4.  The SIA CAC Report was discussed.  President Flaherty informed the Principals that a full SIA meeting would be held later this spring at a date to be announced.

Items discussed from the CAC report:

It was the CAC opinion that St. Thomas More would have to be voted on by both the SVC and the SIA.

The CAC was not opposed to the possible SIA Soccer Conference but recommended that instead of 2 four-team divisions, there would be one 8-team division with one champion.  This will be discussed at the SVC February Athletic Director's meeting.

The CAC support for any possible coop between GCMS and Fisher and the effects on the schedule.

That Dale Doehring is going to retire from the Scheduling Secretary's job and a replacement would be needed.

Gave President Flaherty permission to invite Judah Christian to the February 6, 2002 Principals meeting should Judah Christian make an official inquiry into membership in the SVC.

Mr. Hawkins informed the Principals that there was a strong possibility that the coop in football between Iroquois West and Crescent Iroquois would not be renewed when it expired after the next two football seasons.  Mr. Hawkins wanted to make sure that Iroquois West would placed in a division based on its enrollment alone when new alignments are made next fall.
