Minutes:  The meeting started at 8:20—all schools were present.

 

1.  Mr. Millage of St. Thomas More made a motion to approve the minutes of March 7, 2007 meeting—Mr. Hawkins of Iroquois West seconded the motion.  The motion carried unanimously.

  

2.  Mr. Miller of Crescent Iroquois made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report---Mr. Uphoff of St. Joseph-Ogden seconded.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

3.  Mr. Hawkins made a motion to set dues for the 2007-08 school year at $250 per school.  Mr. Millage seconded.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

4.  Mr. Uphoff made a motion spend $100 for a Conference Door Prize at the Illinois Athletic Directors’ Conference this weekend.  Mr. Rawdin of PBL seconded.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

5.  Mr. Uphoff made a motion to nominated Mr. Maurer from Cissna Park for President and Mr. Hawkins of Iroquois West for Vice President in the 2007-08 school year.  Mr. Rawdin seconded.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

6.  Mr. Miller made a motion to nominated John Overstreet for SVC Secretary/Treasurer for 2007-08 school year and to raise the stipend to $1200 per year.  Mr. Rawdin seconded.  The motion carried unanimously.

 

 

7.  All Academic Team certificates were passed out. The complete team is online.

 

8.  Scholastic Bowl certificates and Championship trophy to St. Joseph-Ogden were presented.

 

9.  The 2007-08 Calendar was finalized.

 

10.  SVC Track update—May 8th at Watseka at 2 pm.  Entries are due to John Overstreet by 6 pm Sunday May 6th.

 


 

11.  The 2007 SVC Scholarships winners were selected:

 

Academic—Daniel Dulaney-CPCI

Male Athlete—Tyler Overstreet-Paxton-Buckley-Loda

Female Athlete—Andrea McCann-Watseka

Vocational—Alicia Harling-Clifton Central

Fine Arts—Sarah Treece-Iroquois West

 

12. A discussion was held on games that still needed to be made up for spring sports.  Athletic Director from the involved schools will try to work out dates.

 

13.  Mr. Millage asked why baseball/softball had gone to playing the same team in the same week.  He said that some people had expressed concerns.  The reason for the change was to avoid a team from having one pitcher who would be able to dominate and maybe win the conference for the school.  This will be discussed at the All Conference Meeting on Monday May 21st.

 

14.  Mr. Kurt Gibson, Asst Executive Director at the IHSA presented a Powerpoint presentation on Sportsmanship and upcoming changes in the program at the IHSA.  Mr. Rawdin made a motion, seconded by Mr. Millage to have the SVC join the program for the 2007-08 school year.

 

Mr. Gibson also answered other concerns of the Principals.
