Principals' Minutes

November 7, 2001

 

1.  The meeting started at 8:25.  All schools were present except: Blue Ridge, Clifton Central and Rossville-Alvin.

 

2.  Mr. Gibson of Milford made a motion to accept the minutes of the October 3, 2001 meeting.  Mr. Bogner of Gibson City Melvin Sibley seconded.  The motion carried.

 

3.  Mr. Bogner presented the Treasurers’ Report.  As of November 6, 2001, the SVC has a balance of $9347.49.  Dr. Hedeman of Uni High made a motion to accept the Treasurers’ Report, Mr. Maurer seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

 

4.  John Overstreet presented the Volleyball Tournament Report.  The tournament made $114 for the week.  Mr. Bogner expressed some concerns about a possible break on Saturday to allow for the workers to eat.  He also questioned the need for the 7th place game.  These concerns will be discussed at the Athletic Director's Meeting in December.

 

5.  A letter of inquiry from The High School of St. Thomas More as presented. After discussion, it was agreed to instruct President Jim Flaherty to invite St. Thomas More to the December 5, 2001 meeting.

 

6.  The scholarship committee of Mr. Mulvaney of Armstrong, Paul Colba of Tri Valley and Dr. Schroeder will present a report either at the December or February meeting concerning a SVC scholarship.

 

7.  John Overstreet reminded Principals to return the survey concerning official's pay.  When all surveys are returned, the results will be sent to each school.

 

8.  John Overstreet discussed the time for the SVC Track meet to be held at Gibson City Melvin Sibley High School on Tuesday May 7, 2002.  The present start time is noon.  The concern was over changing the start time from year to year when the meet moves to different sites.  This will be discussed at the December meeting.

 

9.  A discussion was held on future schedules and divisions.

 

10.  Mr. Roberts of Watseka passed out survey concerning participation at each school by sport.  Please return to him as soon as possible.

 

11.  Mr. Hawkins of Iroquois West briefly discussed the SIA Soccer proposal.

 

12.  Mr. Gibson informed the Principals that the possible coop between Milford, Sheldon and Donavon would not happen due to IHSA by-laws.

 

13.  The meeting adjourned at 9:30.
