PBL Jr. High Symphonic Band

This combined seventh and eighth grade band meets each Monday, Wednesday and Friday during school for 43 minutes per rehearsal. These students also receive a 20 minute semi-private lesson once per week during school. The Jr. High Symphonic Band performs approximately three concerts annually and attends the I.E.S.A. music organizational contest where they have consistently received a division 1 superior rating each year for more than 20 years, and was named the I.E.S.A. Best of Day Band 2009! The band has also competed in the Illinois State concert band contest, and has auditioned for the University of Illinois super state contest. All members of the band also participate in the annual I.E.S.A. solo and ensemble contest

Supplies:

Everyone: Pencil and the band folder (folder will be issued free of charge the first week of band)

Flutes-Cleaning rod and cloth

Oboes-two good reeds, cork grease and cleaning swab

Clarinets-box of reeds(Mitchell Lurie or Vandoren strength 3), cork grease, mouthpiece brush, cleaning swab.

Saxophones-box of reeds (Vandoren - strength 3) cork grease, mouthpiece brush, cleaning swab(Diaper)

Trumpets, Baritones, Tubas- Valve oil, mouthpiece brush, cleaning cloth, tuning slide grease

French Horns-rotary valve oil, tuning slide grease, mouthpiece brush, cleaning cloth

Trombones-slide cream, spray bottle, mouthpiece brush, tuning slide grease, cleaning cloth

percussion-stick bag, snare sticks-2B, hard bell mallets, Medium all-purpose timpani mallets, medium all-purpose yarn xylophone mallets, drum key or rachet.
