Band Camp 2008

Please review the following informational letter about Band Camp:
Our show this year is titled Phantasm and is a musical journey of celebrated classical compositions. Featuring the music of Bach, Mussorgsky, and Grieg it will appeal to young and old alike, (while offering our parents lots of “prop” fun).
Mini Camps will begin on Tuesday June 3rd and will continue on Tuesday nights through out the summer break, (with a couple of weeks off – see attached schedule).
Band camp will be two weeks long beginning Monday July 28th and continue through Friday August 8th. Camp times are from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. except freshmen. Freshman will begin camp at 8:00 a.m. to work on marching fundamentals. Attendance at all rehearsals is required. If one student misses practice, the entire band suffers! If you must miss, inform the Director as soon as possible. Attendance will be taken at every rehearsal!
What to bring: instrument/flags, music, drill sheets. Pencil, sunscreen, water bottles, towels, hats, and a good attitude.
I strongly recommend that two weeks prior to camp you increase (?) your practice from 30 minutes to an hour a day, and begin walking a half-hour a day if you are not actively involved in athletics. The week prior to band camp, start drinking 4-5 cups of plain water a day to hydrate your body for the rigors of the activity. Once camp starts, please eat a well-balanced breakfast every morning.
