Directions To Forest Glen Nature Preserve

        Forest Glen Nature Preserve is a Vermillion County Nature Preserve outside the town of Westville Illinois. It has over 350 different trees that are identified with signs or markers. These trees have been planted for the sole purpose of allowing students to come there and collect off of them. If you follow these instructions you should be able to find it without any difficulty.

  1. Take Interstate 74 to Danville.

  2. Get off Interstate 74 at the Gilbert Street Exit (South Exit, Rt. 1)

  3. Take Gilbert Street (Rt. 1) south for about 6-7 miles to the town of Westville.

  4. Drive through Westville until you come to the stop light by the Dollar General store. Turn left at the light. (There should be a brown road sign on the side of the Dollar General Store that points the direction to the Forest Glen Nature Preserve).

  5. Take this country road for about 2-3 miles. You should see the Forest Glen sign on the Left side of the road.

  6. Turn into the preserve and go to the place called the "Arboretum" . You will see signs inside Forest Glen that will point you to where you want to go.

Directions to the Train Depot in Rantoul

        The Rantoul Train Depot has around 25-30 trees identified with signs that you can collect. This small park is across the street from Rantoul Furniture in downtown Rantoul. To get to this park follow these instructions.

  1. Take Interstate 57 to Rantoul. Get off at the exit there and head East into town.

  2. Continue down the highway into Rantoul until you go under the railroad viaduct. Just on the other side of the viaduct is a stoplight. Turn left at this stoplight.

  3. Drive down this road. It should be running parallel to Roger's Chevrolet.  Continue down this road until you get to the second stop sign. At this stop sign, you should be able to see the Rantoul Fire Station and Police Headquarters ahead of you.

  4. Turn left at this stop sign and go back over the railroad tracks. You should see a train caboose immediately. This where the park is. Turn right by the caboose and Rantoul Furniture. Find yourself a place to park along this side road.
