PBL Unit #10 is excited to announce our district wide attendance initiative, "Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow."
Throughout the year we will be tracking attendance with the goal of improving student attendance in all district buildings.
We chose this initiative because we track all kinds of student data, including assessment scores, climate surveys, and attendance. We learned in a recent study that only 17% of kids who were chronically absent in K or 1st grade (missed 18 or more days in one year, excused or unexcused) were able to read on grade level after grade 3. Good attendance is critical to student's learning!
We need your help. Please read the information that gets sent home regarding our attendance initiative and talk to your student about how important good school attendance is. We can all work together to improve attendance at PBL. We will be educating children and parents. You can help by building regular routines, developing back up plans for getting to school if something unexpected comes up, not permitting your child to miss school unless they are truly sick and avoiding medical appointments and extended trips when school is in session.
Together we can build good attendance habits that will benefit our students here at PBL as well as throughout their adult lives! At PBL we, "Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow!"
