Alexandra Kidd named PBL High School’s Student of the Month

Alexandra Kidd of Paxton has been named student of the month for October at Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School.

Alexandra, a sophomore, is the daughter of John and Alicia Kidd.  She was nominated for the award by her English teacher, Rebecca Zhao.

Mrs. Zhao stated in her nomination, “Alexandra, who is a great student with unique insight into our class topics, is nominated for October due to her great attitude toward others in class.  During student presentations for a recent project, Alexandra asked follow-up questions and responded to specific points of the students’ work, making others feel validated and affirmed.  During group work, she thinks outside the box and her enthusiasm encourages others to go beyond just “getting it done.  She has the kind of creative mind that will do amazing things!”

The student of the month award is sponsored by the Farmers-Merchants Bank of Illinois.  The award recognizes PBL High School students who demonstrate the school district’s mission of “Excellence through rigor, relevance, and relationships.”  Teachers nominate students and the winner receives $50 and the other nominees receive a $5 Just Hamburgers gift certificate.  Haiden LaRoe and Luke Waterson were also nominated for October student of the month.  Congratulations to Haiden, Luke, and Alexandra!
