Olivia Cleary of Loda has been named student of the month for February at Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School. Olivia Is the daughter of Donald and Desiree Cleary. She was nominated for the award by Business & Technology teacher, Audra Nuckols.
Mrs. Nuckols said in her nomination, “Olivia Cleary displays all the criteria for being PBL’s student of the month. She always has a positive attitude, is very reliable, and is respectful to others. Olivia is an excellent student. She is a leader in class and completes her assignments and projects above and beyond with excellent grades. ”
Mrs. Nuckols also stated, “Olivia is the President for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). She has led the Valentine’s Project, “Bringing Smiles to Seniors” for the past two years. She has delivered student-made Valentine’s cards and goodies to residents at Accolade Nursing Home. She has also helped with FBLA’s Winter Clothing Drives for those in need.”
Olivia participates in FFA and FBLA. She has volunteered through her FBLA organization and has consistently been on the honor roll or straight A honor roll. Olivia plans on attending Parkland College and becoming an occupational therapist.
The student of the month award is sponsored by the Bank of Pontiac. The award recognizes PBL High School students who demonstrate the school district’s mission of “Excellence through rigor, relevance, and relationships.” Teachers nominate students and the winner receives $50, and the other nominees receive a $5 gift certificate from Just Hamburgers. The other students nominated for February Student of the Month were Rolen Edison, Robert Evans, Lauren Krumwiede, Devani McClatchy, Triniti Steffy Cannan, and William Swensen.
