Sasha Jeffries named PBL High School’s Student of the Month

Sasha Jeffries named PBL High School’s Student of the Month

Sasha Jeffries of Paxton has been named student of the month for October at Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School.

Sasha, a senior at PBL, is the daughter of Matthew and Karen Jeffries.  She was nominated for the award by her teacher, Emily Wood.

Mrs. Wood stated in her nomination, “It is with great pleasure that I nominate senior, Sasha Jeffries for October student of the month.  I have known Sasha throughout her high school career, but she has really impressed me this school year with her work ethic.  She is currently taking Art III and Independent Art IV.  Often students struggle taking on the challenges of taking two highly independent creative classes.  Sasha is taking on challenging projects, doing research, and working consistently inside and outside of school.  She is also planning to teach some of the skills she is mastering to my Art II classes later this year.

Sasha has also been an active member of art league, and this year is vice-president of (virtual) art league.  She is consistently kind and respectful to her teachers and peers and she takes a stand against injustice.  I admire her quiet leadership, flexibility, and her natural ability to welcome others to join in whatever she is a part of.”

The student of the month award is sponsored by the Farmers-Merchants Bank of Illinois.  The award recognizes PBL High School students who demonstrate the school district’s mission of “Excellence through rigor, relevance, and relationships.”  Teachers nominate students and the winner receives $50 and the other nominees receive a $5 Just Hamburgers gift certificate.  The other students that were nominated for October Student of the Month are Drew Diesburg and Aden Grohler.  Congratulations Drew, Aden, and Sasha!
