Isaiah Geerdes named PBL High School’s Student of the Month
Isaiah Geerdes of Roberts has been named student of the month for January at Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School. Isaiah is the son of Matthew and Priscilla Geerdes. He was nominated for the award by his Robotics Team Coach, Sam Greiff.
Mrs. Greiff stated in her nomination that Isaiah has shown great leadership for the PBL Robotics Team. She indicated “All of our programmers will be graduating after this year and Isaiah has stepped into that role and taught himself how to program. Isaiah has spent time outside of practice researching ways to program and choosing the best programs for his team’s robot.”
Mrs. Greiff also said, “Without programming, our robots will not function so Isaiah’s willingness to step into that role and program the robots without ever doing programming before, speaks to his ability to work as a team member and demonstrate his leadership skills.”
The student of the month award is sponsored by the Farmers-Merchants Bank of Illinois. The award recognizes PBL High School students who demonstrate the school district’s mission of “Excellence through rigor, relevance, and relationships.” Teachers nominate students and the winner receives $50 and the other nominees receive a $5 Just Hamburgers gift certificate. The other students that were nominated for January Student of the Month are Wyatt Anderson, Austin Elam, and Matthew James. Congratulations to all of the nominees and our winner, Isaiah Geerdes!
