STEM

48 fourth and fifth grade girls attended a STEM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Math) event last Tuesday afternoon organized by PBL Freshman Elizabeth Megson.  Elizabeth worked with Parkland College, Governors State University, the University of Illinois and Purdue University to give 4th and 5th grade girls a taste of how exciting STEM activities can be.  The girls rotated through different stations and participated in hands-on STEM activities.  Assisted by Mrs. Sawyer and the JH girls scholastic bowl members, Elizabeth was able to share her love for STEM with these girls.  Asked about her motivation to plan such an event, Elizabeth stated, "I wanted to light the spark of loving STEM, and I think I succeeded in that goal."
