Veterans Day Ceremony

Today, PBL held its annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony, a significant event for both our schools and the wider community. Our PBL High School Band delivered moving performances, first at the Elementary School, then at Accolade Nursing Home on Fulton, and finally for the Junior High, High School, and community members at the High School. You can view pictures from the event here: Veterans Day Ceremony.

Veterans Day, observed every November 11th, is a profoundly important national holiday dedicated to honoring and thanking all who have served in the United States Armed Forces. This day is a powerful reminder of the immense commitment, courage, selflessness, and sacrifice made by millions of Americans to protect our freedoms and way of life. By pausing to recognize these contributions, we uphold a sacred civic duty to ensure that the dedication of our veterans is never forgotten, fostering a culture of enduring respect and gratitude.

The holiday's history is rooted in "Armistice Day," which began on November 11, 1919, marking the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Unlike Memorial Day, which specifically honors service members who died in service, Veterans Day honors all who have served, whether living or deceased, in times of war or peace.

To every veteran, we extend our deepest and most sincere gratitude. Thank you for answering the call to serve, for the long hours spent away from your families, for the personal risks you accepted, and for the unwavering courage you displayed in defense of our core values. Your service is the bedrock of our security and freedom, whether you were on the front lines, supporting operations behind the scenes, or standing guard during times of peace. We at PBL thank you for everything you have done, providing us the security to enjoy our freedom every single day.

Thank you, Mr. Hess, and all the veterans who are a part of our PBL community. Happy Veterans Day!
