PAXTON — The Paxton-Buckley-Loda Junior High School LEGO League team is officially kicking off another exciting season of hands-on learning, robotics, and innovation. Student enthusiasm is already high following an informational meeting led by Coach Lizz Pippin, librarian at Clara Peterson Elementary. The meeting was held on August 18th during student lunch and lunch recess.
Even if students missed the informational meeting, there is still time to apply! Completed LEGO League Applications should be returned directly to the main office at PBL Junior High. We also have additional paper copies in the main office at the junior high.
Hands-On STEM and Friendly Competition
At the core of the FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge is a blend of engineering, computer science, and collaborative problem-solving. Designed for teams of up to 10 students, the program challenges participants to design, build, and code an autonomous LEGO® robot capable of navigating a series of mission games.
Beyond robotics, students also take on an Innovation Project, where they identify a real-world problem and work together to research and propose creative solutions. Created through a global partnership between FIRST® and LEGO® Education, the initiative aims to inspire young minds while building confidence, critical thinking, and design skills.
This Season’s Theme: BIOGLOW
This year’s competition, themed BIOGLOW, challenges teams to look to the natural world for inspiration. Just as biodiversity reflects the health of an ecosystem through the interaction of plants, animals, and habitats, the program highlights how diverse teams can solve complex problems together.
Throughout the season, PBL team members will explore how scientists and engineers use technology inspired by nature to protect animal habitats and monitor ecosystems. Using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), creativity, and teamwork, participants will research innovations that support biodiversity, strengthen local communities, and contribute to a healthier, more connected planet.
