Speech Team Competition Results
PBL Junior High - Contact: Mrs. Shawna Pondel
The PBL Junior High speech team returned home Saturday, November 13th with 9 first place medals and 5 second place ribbons following their annual competition. The Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) contest was held at Cissna Park Grade School.
PBL was represented by 17 students who participated in 14 different events. Awarded
first place medals were the duet acting groups of Jerilyn Dunlavey and Cole Ostendorf, Paityn
Badgley and Hailey Wilker, Hallee Johnson and Audrey McCoy and Maddison Deornellas and
Kylie Rust. A solo first place medal went to Audrey McCoy. Impromptu acting performers
earning first place ratings were Anna Hudson and Brayden Kief. Small group acting earning first
place medals were Isabella Cross, Anna Hudson, Brayden Kief, Lauren Krumwiede, and Elle
San Diego for their performance of “Fee Fi Fo Flub,” and Maddison Deornellas, Hallee Johnson,
Kylie Rust, and Lilly Schaumburg with their script, “Variations.”
Earning second place honors were the acting duets presented by Isabella Cross and
Isabella Krumwide and also Meike Bristle and Triniti Steffy Cannan. Cole Ostendorf earned a
second place rating for his solo acting performance as did Trinity Steffy Cannan. Paityn Badgley,
Giavanna Chaddock, Jerilyn Dunlavey, Lilly Schaumburg and Hailey Wilker earned second
place ribbons for their small group acting presentation.
Each judge also gives a Judge’s Choice Award for their favorite first place performance
of the day. Paityn Badgley and Hailey Wilker earned the Judge’s Choice Award for their
performance of “Scare Me” and Audrey McCoy and Hallee Johnson also won the Judge’s
Choice Award for “A Fine Line.”
“I am so very proud of all of these students for their hard work. They would come to
practice before school, during their recess time and after school. They represented PBL Jr High
