These unsung heroes work tirelessly to keep our school buildings clean, safe, and comfortable for students, staff, and visitors. From sweeping floors and mopping hallways to emptying trash and sanitizing surfaces, our custodians play a vital role in ensuring a healthy and positive learning environment for all. Elizabeth Megson is a Senior at Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School who qualified as a Semifinalist for the National Merit Scholarship. Approximately 16,000 students (the top 1%) have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered next spring. In order for Semifinalists to advance to the Finalist level, they must fulfill several requirements. About 95% of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title. We are SO PROUD of Elizabeth. She exemplifies hard work, is actively involved in various extracurricular activities, has a positive rapport with friends and teachers, and is a very driven student. We're excited and want to congratulate her!

Today Ford County students will be reflecting on their attendance in the first 5 weeks of school. Students will be tracking how many days they have been present versus how many days they have been absent. At this point in the school year, missing more than three days in the first 5 weeks of school puts a student on track to being chronically absent. When your child returns home from school today, ask them about their attendance. #bepresentbepowerful
