Today we kicked off our High School Connections program with our 8th graders and the high school! Today's focus allowed for high school administration and the guidance office staff to introduce themselves and their roles at the high school. We will continue high school connections over the next two months to prepare our students to be successful at the high school.

8th grade students in Medical Detectives with Miss Manley have been busy this quarter! They've learned about the central and peripheral nervous systems, investigated how neurons work, and explored the structures and functions of the brain. Today it was time to put it all together to solve a neurological medical mystery. Students gathered evidence from a patient case file, medical exam notes, and test results in order to diagnose a patient. Each group of Medical Detectives were given a sheep brain related to their case in order to give their final diagnosis. Dissecting the brains allowed each group to determine the origin of the problem within their patient’s nervous system. All groups diagnosed their patients successfully! It was wonderful to see collaboration and science in action today.
