On Wednesday, February 7th, administrators from Ford County Schools met with staff from the Champaign-Ford County Regional Office of Education Attendance Improvement Program for a collaborative discussion aimed at improving attendance across our educational institutions. One area all our schools have been discussing is the increase of chronic absenteeism for students in Ford County Schools. Chronic absenteeism is when a student misses 10% of the school year or 17.5 days or more of school in one year.
A special shoutout to our ECCA, CEO and ICE students. They joined in on the fun for our 8th Grade Career Fair. They held presentations on our different programs that we have to aid career development.
Students had fun at our 8th Grade Career Fair. They had hands-on experience with our career professionals. This was an incredible event that went great! We look forward to having our local businesses for next year.
Our 8th Grade Career Fair had a great variety of other professionals. They were joined by company leaders and teachers. These individuals make a great difference in how we come together as a community. They not only build the community, they help build our students as well.
A big part of our world is trade skills. This was a huge part of our 8th Grade Career Fair. We had many highly skilled professionals join us and teach our students how their special skillset can influence their community.
We were excited to host sessions during our 8th Grade Career Fair with our service members and local authorities that help make our community welcoming and safe. We truly appreciate everything they do for us!

On Thursday, February 1st, our 8th grade students joined our high school students for a tour of our Senior High. The day went fantastic and we had a blast!
