During the week of March 13th-March 17th PBL JH will be participating in Say Something Awareness Week alongside thousands of other schools across the country. Students will participate in a week of activities that will raise awareness about how to create a safer, healthier school, and build a culture where students and staff lookout for each other. We will be focusing on how to build a community of upstanders, and how to acknowledge the trusted adults in our lives.

On Friday, March 3rd, our Panther Partners went to Old Orchard Lanes. Panther Partners is a mentoring program between the junior high and high school where high school students mentor one or two junior high students. The high school mentors build relationships with the junior high students and help them with homework, peer relationships, organizational skills, along with many other things. We would like to give a shoutout to all of the teachers and counselors that made this outing possible! In 7th grade social studies last week students participated in an Escape Room and cracked George Washington’s spy code. Students learned how Washington organized one of the largest and intricate spy rings in history. While studying the American Revolution the classes went in depth to solve clues left from the past to crack the revolutionary code.

The mission in 6th grade science with Mrs. Pondel is to plan a manned trip to Mars. This week we studied what and how astronauts eat. We also learned that in space, astronauts need 25% more calories than we do on Earth! On Friday we made “astronaut food”! (adding water to dry milk and dry pudding mix). Thank you Mrs. Pondel for such an engaging unit for our students!
