
On Thursday, September 21st the 8th grade students and staff visited The Hollocaust Exhibit - Courage to Remember in Gibson City, IL. Courage to Remember has traveled to more than 50 countries and been seen by more than 20 million visitors. The exhibit brought the past alive with large, illustrated panels that enable students and staff to read about the events of the Holocaust, as well as excerpts from first-person accounts of persecution and survival.

Due to a transportation issue, we will not be attending the JH cross country meet at Lake of the Woods tonight. (9/14) The team will practice at their normally scheduled time after school.

Art students at PBL Junior High are completing a unit in ceramics. Students are given an opportunity to schedule a time to stay after school to work on the potter’s wheel that was purchased from one of the many grants awarded by the PBL Education Foundation. 6th Grader, Lilly Mabry was the first student this year to take advantage of the opportunity to make a dish on the potter’s wheel. Her ceramic dish will be fired along with the projects made in class. Great job, Lilly!

The PBL JH LEGO League Team is preparing to start their season. Students interested in joining the team have to complete an application. LEGO League is a unique, cohesive group of students who are interested in applying their skills in an exciting competition while working within a team. In LEGO League, students will be working as a team to complete a series of challenges that include both designing and programming. This year’s challenge theme is looking at the incorporation of art into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). On Tuesday, August 22nd the staff at the PBL JH had a special lunch provided by Tanna Suits from Country Financial in Rantoul, IL. The staff at the JH enjoyed a burrito bar & more. A big thank you to Tanna for taking the time to organize this lunch and special treat for staff.

Congratulations to our very own Mr. Callahan. Mr. Callahan is an 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher at PBL JH. Last weekend Mr. Callahan was presented with his certificate of completion from Officer Candidate School. Mr. Callahan is now a Second Lieutenant in the Illinois Army National Guard. In the picture Second Lieutenant Michael Callahan is with Major General Rodney Boyd, Assistant Adjutant General – Army of the Illinois National Guard and Commander of the Illinois Army National Guard. Congratulations Second Lieutenant Michael Callahan and everyone at PBL is proud of you.


On Monday, August 28th the 8th Grade Class (Class of 2028) is doing a donation night at Pueblo Lindo in Paxton, IL. Pueblo Lindo will donate 10% of all dine in purchases before taxes. All the money and proceeds will go to the Class of 2028 in their fundraising efforts for the upcoming 8th Grade Dance in May 2024 and for high school events such as prom and more.

All PBL JH athletic contests that were to be held Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday (8/22-8/24)this week have been canceled. Coaches will send updated practice times and locations via Remind.

Good Luck to our PBL Junior High baseball and softball teams today! Baseball travels to Tolono Unity at 4:00, while softball travels to Colfax for a 4:30 start. Go, Panthers!!🐾🐾

Just a reminder that the 6th-8th Grade Open House at PBL JH is tonight on Monday, August 14th from 5:30-6:30pm. All PBL JH students and families will come to the Commons Area to get their schedules. Students will then report to their 1st period class and drop off supplies.


The PBL JH baseball games at Fisher have been canceled for today. (Saturday, August 12th.)

The softball games at Urbana have been canceled for today because of severe storms in the area.
PBL softball will play at home on Thursday at 4:30. PBL baseball will also play at home on Thursday beginning at 4:00.

PBL Junior High’s softball team begins the season tonight at home vs. Rantoul Eater. The “A” game will begin at 4:00 followed by “B” innings afterward. Good Luck, Panthers!!

Come join us for our 2023-2024 PBL Junior High School Open House! The Open House will be from 5:30 - 6:30 PM on Monday, August 14, 2023. Please enter through the Junior High School Commons upon arrival at 5:30 PM. The students will receive their schedule, meet their teachers, and organize their lockers prior to the first day of school! We hope to see you there!


JH Cross Country Practice will begin the week of August 7th-11th. Practice will be held each day from 8:30 - 10:00 am at Pells Park. All athletes should bring copies of their current athletic physical and a signed insurance waiver to the first practice in order to participate.
