This is called Tumbling Towers. Students from Mrs. McMahon's and Mrs. Hasting's 6th grade math class played a Jenga like game. For each piece pulled from the tower, they must answer the correlating math problem on the card. We're using this as a review of basic skills we've covered so far this year such as: multiplying and dividing fractions, simplifying ratios, factors, squares and cubes.

Good News to Share at PBL JH. Each week, we celebrate student achievements with Good News Notes. These handwritten notes are a wonderful way to recognize students for their accomplishments both in and out of the classroom. Teachers and staff complete the Good News Notes to commend students, then deliver them to the main office. Administration personally delivers the notes to deserving students. The power of a handwritten note fosters positive relationships and creates a culture of positive growth.

8th grade students learned the states of matter and phase changes this week in science. Ms. Manley brought in dry ice -- frozen carbon dioxide -- so that students could observe sublimation in action! Sublimation is the process where matter in its solid form transfers directly into a gas. When you combine warm water and dry ice in the container, the dry ice quickly sublimates and turns into gas. With a little help from dish soap, we made dry ice bubbles!
